This thesis analyzes Urban Air Mobility (UAM) as an innovative solution to urban transport challenges in the EU, focusing on technologies, infrastructure, regulations, and benefits for transport and logistics. UAM, utilizing eVTOL aircraft, can reduce traffic congestion, create jobs, and lower CO2 emissions. In the EU, countries like France and Germany lead in infrastructure development and certification of models like Volocopter VoloCity. UAM could generate 90,000 jobs and a market value of 4.2 billion EUR by 2030, while cutting emissions by up to 52% per passengerkilometer. In logistics, it shortens delivery times to 15–30 minutes and reduces costs by 20–30%. Mathematical modeling estimates UAM adoption at 0.5–2% of trips in London could save 31–124 minutes annually per driver. Challenges include high vertiport costs (500,000–2 million EUR), regulatory harmonization, and public safety concerns. Recommendations include infrastructure investments, unified regulations, and public campaigns to enhance acceptance.
